Script Collection Book 4
Visualizing ideas through words
We have been doing so, for a mere twenty years
These texts are injected with actions, messages and emotions
Serving actors, designers and directorsâ¨It all started from a little voice in the mind
Ended amplified on a stage with full house attendees or not so many
But an idea had spoken and sprouted
A better tomorrow crazily desiredâ¨In written words, we have tried to be a fantastical insect or a crass street whore
When staged, we realised that everything was simply the sincere us
Our cries during our crossing of the dark tunnels of youth
Our angst over our misunderstood and underestimated egos
Our rejoices in provoking and confronting with controversiesâ¨It is just we, a group of children who refuses to grow up.
From Toy Factory, a house generous in providing strength to artists
A collection of our voices, memories and loves from the past two decades. Enjoy!
Book 4 has three stories to be told
BIG FOOL LEE
Big Fool Lee is about a legendary storyteller, Lei Dai Soh who left an impact on many generations in Singapore with his exceptional charisma. Let Toy Factory take you through an enchanting journey of Lei Dai Soh, from his days of fame to the day he sadly retired from radio.
A humorous and brilliant tale about a street wayang actress. Titoudao attempts to create a greater awareness for traditional culture and the diminishing art in our fast- moving society. Using an array of juxtapositions of good and bad, past and present, tradition and modernization, and a diversity of languages, it touches on the issues of changes in society and the much-debated Singapore identity.
A cross-cultural project for “ASEAN-Japan Exchange Year 2003” â Goh Boon Teck was commissioned by Kageboushi Theatre Company of Japan to write and direct the Pan-Asian production Prism, which is about the disappearance of Asian architecture. This grand theatrical performance gathered performing artists and designers from six countries and embarked on a six-nation tour. The music was composed by Malaysia’s top composer Saidah Rastam.
